Potty Training in One Day – Can You Really Potty Train in a Day? What Does It Mean?

by E-NewsCast Team
February 1st, 2012

Sounds great – doesn’t it?

Or does it sound too good to be true?

It all comes down to perspective and expectations.

If these words evoke the idea of a magic pill image in your mind – i.e. all I have to do is spend some money here and boom, my child will be potty trained in one day – that’s it – s/he will go from diapers/pull-ups to potty training pants and will not have accidents and we will all live happily ever after.

Well, a magic pill it is not!! It will take effort and energy on your part and yes, you will have to clean up accidents. We all learn from our mistakes and your child will not be any different.

It is however a proven method that has successfully worked for many parents. The one day is the “Big Day” (see Figure 1 below). This is the day when the actual

Baby Shower Thank You Notes for Unwanted Gifts

by E-NewsCast Team
January 31st, 2012

Unless you’re expecting triplets, you may not need three baby carriers, or maybe you received a bedding ensemble you didn’t register for and clearly do not want. These gift-giving scenarios may occur and must be handled candidly, without embarrassing the gift giver or yourself.

When opening gifts at your shower, be open-minded and know that you will probably receive duplicate items or gifts you do not want. Upon opening the gift, thank the gift giver for their present. After the shower, you can make plans to exchange or return the item, but you should always send a nice thank you note thanking the gift giver for their thoughtful present.

Receiving Duplicate Gifts

There are several reasons why you may receive duplicate items. Thanks to convenient store policies, returning gifts is often easy. When you receive duplicate presents at your baby shower, immediately thank each gift giver for her thoughtfulness. The givers

Selecting The Perfect Baby Furniture For Your Nursery

by E-NewsCast Team
January 30th, 2012

The first thing that most new parents think about is a bassinet or a crib. A bassinet is very small and is designed for babies, while a crib is designed for babies and toddlers. The main concern with a crib is that some children may find themselves wedged in between the bars, so pay close attention to the spacing if selecting a crib with your new baby furniture. For those restless nights, a rocking chair is a must have. This is generally placed next to the bassinet or crib and is for one of the parents to spend time rocking their child back and forth, either to relax them or to help them fall asleep. This is an essential piece of baby furniture and must be well constructed in order to avoid any mishaps. If the chair is assembled upon purchase, double check it’s stability prior to …

Baby Sunglasses

by E-NewsCast Team
January 29th, 2012

It might appear to be sufficient to apply some high factor suncream on your little ones and then head off into the sunshine, but do you give much thought for your baby’s eyes?

I know from experience with our 10 months old boy that he hates the sun shining in his eyes. It tends to make him sneeze and he screws his eyes up and gets quite distressed. For this reason we investigated some sunglsses to see what was available.

Having tried most of the baby sunglasses on the market the two that we found suitable were the Tommee Tippee Kids in the Sun range and the Baby Banz sunglasses. These are two very different styles of sunglasses as the Tommee Tippee ones look very similar to adult sunglasses, yet smaller. Whereas the Baby Banz sunglasses have a hard frame encasing the lenses, yet there are no arms

Infant Acne

by E-NewsCast Team
January 28th, 2012

When we picture a baby, we tend to have a stereotyped image of a pink, glowing little face that is almost overwhelmingly cute. The last thing we think about is pimples. And yet, the reality is that infant acne occurs on the faces of many babies. Usually it starts between three and four weeks of age, but sometimes it can even be present in newborns.

It can be a little distressing for the parents to see little red bumps all over their precious baby’s face, but the good news is that infant acne is temporary, and doesn’t require any treatment. However, it can stick around for a little while, and may only disappear gradually. It’s quite possible that infant acne may come and go spasmodically until the baby is six months old.

I remember very well when my daughter broke out in infant acne at the tender
