Cottage Style Home Decorating: 8 Tips to Husband-Friendly Cottage Style
Cottage style is about creating a lifestyle at home that is comfortable for you and your family and welcoming to your friends. So even if you have a football player husband, three sons, and two dogs, with some compromise and ingenuity, you can still have a comfortable cottage style home that suits the whole family. I’m living proof, because my husband and I have personally co-existed happily with this style for years.
8 Tips to Husband-Friendly Cottage Style:
1. Forget Foo Foo. While you might dream of a pink and white ruffled castle laden with flowers, your husband probably does not. Compromise by minimizing ruffles and frills.
2. Color Cozy. Choose three colors for your décor that are favorites of both you and your significant other and that look attractive together. You can vary the intensity of the shades if needed.
3. Neutral Furnishings. Consider choosing solid color upholstery

Easy And Inexpensive Kitchen Decorating Tips
Small changes can have a big effect on how your kitchen looks. Below are 11 decorating ideas that you can do yourself in a day or less. Not only are these simple changes are easy to do, but they are inexpensive too!
1. Afraid of changing your drab white kitchen walls? Instead of choosing rich, deep colors for your first project, you will likely feel more comfortable with a neutral such as beige or gray which will not date the room or create a jarring palate that you will easily tire of.
2. Brighten up the kitchen. Use mirrors to capture the sunlight and bounce it around. Try putting a mirror across from a window or on a wall that corners against the window wall for the most light distribution.
3. Make seasonal changes. Moving the kitchen furniture into a ‘summer arrangement’ can

10 Tips to Care for Your Antique Glassware
Antique glassware needs a gentle hand. This month we’ll give you some useful tips to help you care for your antique or modern glassware.
1. Avoid putting glassware into direct sunlight or near any other heat sources such as radiators.
2. Avoid slippage by using two hands when carrying delicate items. Remove lids and stoppers to be safe.
3. Avoid stains in vases by changing the water every two days and removing any flowers or leaves before they dry onto the vase. Keep in mind that any liquid will stain glassware if it remains over a period of time.
4. Avoid temperature extremes. Very cold or very hot water is too taxing on antique glassware. Sudden temperature changes can stress the glass.
5. Avoid the dishwasher; it is too harsh on fragile glassware. Fill a plastic bowl with warm soapy water in the sink to wash glassware. The plastic bowl protects the glassware from the

Cheap Carpet – Carpeting A Room For $20
Do you want cheap carpet that you can easily install yourself? Well, I once carpeted a large bedroom for a total cost of about $12. You read that right, and no, the carpet was not used carpet. I did it with carpet samples.
I bought them for 25 cent apiece at a closeout sale, and it took 36 squares of carpet to finish the room. The only other supplies I used were the staples, which cost about a dollar. Normally, you might pay a dollar each for squares of carpet. I found them available for half that just a few weeks ago, but in any case, this is cheap carpet.
This is an unusual style, though, and you may have to consider the resale value of your home. The bedroom I carpeted this way was in a rental mobile home, where cheap and unusual styles are the norm. Ordinarily, you will want

Cozy and Comfortable — A Living Room for Winter!
Enjoy a warm and cozy atmosphere in your living room throughout the winter season.
Redesign the space and greet the New Year with an inviting and comfortable living room. An intimate conversation area will inspire gatherings for long chats over a warm cup of cocoa. Texture, natural elements and light create a tangible ambience. If you have a formal room, relaxing the atmosphere a bit with some of the casual comforts suggested will help create a room that feels cozy and inviting.
To create a conversation area, bring the sofas off the wall if necessary, allowing no more than 8 ft from the front of two parallel sofas or a sofa and two armchairs. If you have enough furniture to create “U†formation, make sure that there is at least 18†between the coffee table and the furniture gathered around it. Bring in color and texture with a throw and pillows.
