If you have a large home with high ceilings with beautiful architecture you will want to show it off. Lastly, ambient lighting is used as filler. It lights up every part of the room. In other words it’s all the lighting combined. In a proper environment, all the types of lights should be properly placed, as well as all of them must exist in balance for creating a good working …

Task lighting is used for a specific task and in work areas where more light is required. The task might be putting a puzzle together or reading a book. A lamp placed next to a chair would be considered a task light. So are the under-cabinet lights that have become so

by E-NewsCast Team
February 23rd, 2012

The popularity of granite kitchen countertops has increased dramatically in recent years, with the media focus on kitchen remodeling and personal incomes rising. Originally the choice for granite countertops was limited to wealthy individuals. Today, homeowners of moderate means choose granite countertops for their durability as well as beauty. In addition to their utility and longevity, granite kitchen countertops are one of the few home improvements that maintain their value. 4 techniques to highlight the color of your furnishings, artwork, plants, wall hangings, and wall textures.

1) Silhouetting: Place a floor spotlight with a broad-beamed bulb behind a sculpture or plant, one foot from the wall pointing straight up on the wall. This provides backlighting for a silhouette effect, particularly effective on bronze sculptures, bonsai, and dense plants.

2) Shadowing: Place a plant light inside the plant just behind the trunk pointing straight up to throw leafy shadows on the ceiling or put the light 3’ in front of the foliage to see shadows on the wall. This uplighting technique is most effective with sparsely foliated plants and unique branching patterns.

3) Moonlighting: This effect is achieved using recessed lights in the ceiling with soft incandescent reflector bulbs shining down through plant leaves sprinkling shadow patterns on the walls or floor. Incandescent lighting (regular household bulbs and PAR bulbs) brings out reds and

Step 1: Pick a motif and go with it! Don’t pair your childhood bedspread with a new wrought iron bed and lace curtains. Choose colors that remind you of things you love. Make it the vibe that fills the room. This mean not just your bedding, but also any framed artwork or standing decorations should go with the motif.

Step 2: Make it smell yummy! A room with a pleasant, inviting fragrance is a great start to creating that special space where you go to escape. Choose scented candles in your favorites smells. Vanilla is always relaxing and tantalizing. Another choice: incense. It comes in limitless
