Let’s Get Digital, Digital!
Lets get physical, physical… you know the opening line to that song…
Well it’s a good way to add a new statement on Digital Photography…
The Pro Fashion Photographers of to day, while shooting with medium format cameras fitted with a digital back, now has it down to a fine art by keeping the model in the same position and checking the image on screen immediately and making adjustments to the pose on the spot.
In a way, this has helped the Fashion Photographer to eliminate the failure factor, or to put it more bluntly, (the cock-up factor), as the client can direct the image he requires by watching a series of images on screen for his selection.
Where does that leave you, well yes you can see the images immediately on your digital cameras LCD screen, but I don’t know about you, the image is so small and unless you have the eyesight

Cameras: Acknowledge and Deal With Dust
Dust in photography is something to avoid at all times. In general terms, dust and photography don’t mix.
In older times, dust used to cause problems because it settled on negatives and on prints being developed. Now, although there still are film users, it’s the scourge of the digital photographer.
Dust can settle just about anywhere in the camera. The most important area is on the sensor. This causes spots on the final image. These spots can be removed with a photo-editing program but it is far easier to deal with the problem directly.
There are proprietary cleaning kits for sensors and as long as you are careful you shouldn’t have any problems. Of course, preventing dust getting on the sensor in the first place is the best way forward and this can be achieved by ensuring that you either don’t change your lenses or, if you do, you remove and replace as

5 Tips To Help You Master Digital Photography
Have you already mastered the art of taking photos without ‘red-eye’ syndrome? Are there some pictures that you know you should have turned out a lot better than they did? It happens to all of us – even the expert photographers. Here are five tips to help you move from beginner to master of digital photography, whether you’re using your cell phone or a point-and-shoot camera to snap shots.Compose CarefullyOne of the most basic digital photography tips is to pay attention to what’s in the frame of the viewfinder. Fill the frame. Nothing but blue sky, for instance, behind a single subject throws off the proportions of the photo and decreases interest. You can also turn the camera sideways to see if a vertical photo might have more impact than a horizontal shot of the same subject….

Last Wish, First Sale
As a new employee of a large studio, I was afforded several one time perks. The boss took me out to lunch at a nice restaurant, some of my previous attempts at portrait photography were allowed to occupy a small corner of the display window and I was permitted to print one negative of my own in their custom lab.
The picture I chose was a photograph of King Ludwig’s castle I took while on a trip through Austria. This is the famous castle Walt Disney used as a model for his Disneyland Castle. The print came out beautiful and I mounted, textured and sprayed it with clear lacquer. I planned to enter it into a photography contest as soon as I had enough to satisfy the rules.
A couple of weeks later, a rumpled-looking gentleman entered the studio and asked if I had any pictures

Still-Life Tabletop Photography Made Easy!
When it comes to simple basic Still-Life Tabletop Photography, as far as the novice ‘wanna-be-photographer’ is concerned there is often a mental block, when really it’s quite simple, so much so that if you start to do it professionally, after a few years the trick is to stay awake.
I asked UK photographer Phil Selfe why he sold his very successful studios a few years back and he answered, “I just got bored Rog”.
I remember when he was my assistant back in the seventies, I would set up the first still-life shot, then say to him, “Shoot off the rest Phil” and go out for the rest of the day.
Of course not all still-life is so mundane and in fact some still-life shots are very exacting, requiring careful planning, construction of the set and attention to lighting details, which would include running test shots to acquire the effect that was needed.

Cameras
As early as the 11th century, a camera using a pinhole or lens was developed. This projected a specific image on a viewing surface. At that time, these images were preserved by manually tracing them, due to non-availability of adequate photographic technology and material. The first small and portable camera was invented in 1685. However it was not until 1826 that the first permanent photograph was made.
The word camera is derived from the Latin word “obscura latin,†which means dark chamber. A photograph is a medium through which people can relive past events and revisit moments. From the days of stencils, black and white to color, cameras have come a long way.
A camera is essentially a lightproof box fitted with a lens. A shutter is used to collect incoming light and direct it onto the film within. There is a viewfinder, used to frame the scene and a mechanism that
