Watch For Strong Backlit Shots
Imagine you are on the beach. You and a friend are having a great time, so much so that you want to take a photo to capture the moment.
You get your friend to stand by the water. You vary carefully stand your friend with his back to the sun as you correctly have judged that having the sun behind YOU will cause your friend to squint because HE will be looking into it.
Posed and ready, you take the photo. Luckily, your friend does the same for you (it just goes to show what a great time you are having).
You look at the resulting images. They are poor.
Neither of you are squinting, or at least, you don’t think so. But unfortunately the eyes and face are in deep shadow and none of the features are visible.
The reason for this is that the bright background has fooled the camera into underexposing for

My Photos Aren’t Sharp (Part 1)
This article is intended for the DSLR camera user, who has some notion of what DOF and apertures are, in relation to imagers. However, I welcome you to read the following regardless of your photographic experience or level, because it will eventually make sense to you. Be sure to check my other articles, as I will be covering apertures and Depth Of Field terminology for basic users in the future.
Aperture And DOF
When I’m asked about a camera’s unsharp behavior from users, I immediately ask them about what type of camera they have–DSLR or a compact camera (DSLR-Type, Point & Shoot, etc.). Many DSLR camera owners are having difficulties understanding Depth Of Field (DOF), and how it relates to apertures, and imagers. One of the reasons for this and why there is so little experience with DOF, is because compact cameras have been used for the majority of a camera user’s

Using Film Speed Effectively (Black & White Film Thoughts)
It’s hard to find sometimes but it’s making a resurgence, black and white film. If you’ve never used this film now is the time to try it out. Here are some tips to using b&w film and what you can expect from the results.
1. Forget color. This is the hardest thing to do and the number one reason that you will not get good results with b&w film.
2. Look for contrast. Once you can ignore color look for contrast. You will want your image to have a bit more contrast than you would normally want in a color image.
3. Consider shooting situations that are more formal. Black and white film gives such a wonderful timelessness to an image and it’s perfect for formal situations.
4. Keep your photos simple. Black and white film simplifies so don’t fight it. Keep the images simple by keeping close to your subject or place your

Tips for Vacation Photos
Photos are a great way to share your travel experiences with family and friends. Here are a few suggestions to help you capture vacation memories you will treasure for years to come.
PLAN AHEAD
Make sure your digital camera is in good working order before you go, and keep it in a water- and shock-resistant case. Bring two sets of rechargeable batteries and don’t forget the charger and relevant cords. Make sure your camera has enough memory. Packing an extra memory card is wise, as there is nothing worse than running out of room for pictures halfway down the Grand Canyon. It may be tempting to lower the resolution so you can store more pictures, but you will regret this later as it may result in poorer quality prints, or you will be limited to smaller size prints. Set your camera at its highest quality JPEG setting

Jewelry Photography with Photo Studio Box
For those who are selling on ebay or online, or any jewelry store owners, taking quality jewelry photos is a daunting task.
You are selling a product that is relatively expensive, and requires a high quality photograph to showcase your jewelry product. As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. In your case, a picture might worth a thousand dollars! A good piece of jewelry could retail for $1,000′s or more.
