During thesummer you need to remove dead foliage from the bottom of thepond. If you pond contains any fish then you should remove anydead and rotting fish from the bottom. The fall of the year is the worst season of the year for havingponds in the yard. This is the time of the year when the leavesbegin to fall of the trees. These leaves will surely fall intoyour ponds and will cover the top of the water. IF the leavesare left in the pond then you could cause damage the water andthe plant and animal life that live in the water. When leavesdecay they can disturb the ecological balance of the pond,whether it be man made or natural. You should always make everyeffort to remove all leaves from the water. Usually during the winter ponds are frozen over. If the pond isman made then you might want to remove the water from the pondif you do not wish it to freeze. In most cases ponds are usuallyleft alone and they freeze during the winter months. Thereforepeople do not need to do anything to care for them.
